Text: Philippians 3:7-10
“The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash—along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life.
Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ—God’s righteousness”.
In the process of knowing Christ, all that seems too important to us needs to be counted as all losses. Nothing should take priority in our life other than Jesus Himself.
It is only a person who does not value earthly things than his relationship with God that can keep on in the quest of chasing after God, knowing Him, and experiencing His power of resurrection. Apostle Paul said “for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him”
Can you count that certificate loss for Christ? Or can you count that well-paying job loss for Christ? It takes sufficient Grace in this perverted world to lay all at the feet of Christ and chase after Him. Know this, for us to know Christ, then we must be ready to count all of our achievements as loss for His sake. The only thing that should be gain for us is Christ and His Kingdom. All other things are secondary.
Conclusion: But what things were gain to me, this I have counted loss for Christ.
