ON THE WAY TO DESTINY
Text: Proverbs 3:5-6
A songwriter wrote a very inspiring hymn titled “Trust and Obey.” The song speaks of walking with the Lord on a mysterious path that seems to be dark. Destiny is derived from the word destination which means the desired end of a journey. The hymn pointed out two words of interest, TRUST, and OBEY.
Let’s look at each.
Trust
The journey of destiny is a lonely one, even if you start in a group, you will end up alone along the way. The reason is that God made us exceptional and unique.
Many however have sadly lived a destiny-unfulfilled life. At that moment when they are left alone on the journey, they get frustrated, lose hope and give up. Some even try to go through immoral means and lawless ways to get there, when the way forward is TRUST! Trust who? The Lord. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
You can’t afford to lose destiny, why not trust him? You just have to do it with all your heart. Trust him like a baby trusts her father. When no one is with you on that journey, He is always present; when finances seem all gone, He will provide; when you are wounded, he will heal you. He will do all this for you because he cares about you more than the journey itself.
Obey
This is a journey you haven’t walked before and as you are trusting in the Lord almighty, he will give you instructions that will guide you to arrive at your destiny.
Even though you only know where you are going but not how to get there, there is he who is at the beginning and the end at the same time, he is the Alpha-Omega. Even when the instructions seem crazy, remember you already put your trust in him and humbly obey. A respectable man of God, Bishop David Oyedepo said in one of his speeches “we fly by instructions”. The fastest means of arriving at your place of destiny is to follow the instructions of the Lord, you will not just walk or run, you will fly to destiny.
Prayer: Lord helps me to trust and obey you on my way to destiny. Amen.
