Text: Ephesians 4:20-24

“That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him by the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, about your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”.

The word ‘now’ refers to when something is recently made or created, refreshed, reformed, and in original condition. A man who accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior become a new man. In other words, he has become an heir of Christ. Therefore he is to put on the attitude of the new man.

As he walks daily with God, his old lifestyle shreds and he becomes reformed into Christ. How do you know you have become a new man? By the springing forth of the fruits of the spirit such as; love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. All these will reflect both in your spiritual and physical life.

But the works of the old man are Lust, pride, fornication, malice, lies, unforgiveness, anger, greed, masturbation, pornography, selfish ambitions, jealousy, dissension heresies, drunkenness, idolatry, and likes.

With all these highlights of a new and old man, we should be able to know the category we belong to.

Prayer: Oh Lord, please help me to put off my old self and renew me till I become a new man in your likeness.
