Text: Heb 12:8-12, Rev 3:19
The subject of “test” cannot be overemphasized as God’s children and as Kingdom people.
At every level of our lives and our walk with God, He still tests us. Our promotion in the school of the spirit is test based, just as in the secular world, there is no promotion without a test.
Now that we have established that there is a need for tests, let’s consider why many of us fail the test of the spirit.
There are many reasons why we tend to fail these tests but we’ll consider a few.
- Lack of discernment
- Ignorance of the dealings
- For some, it’s the inability to withstand the intensity of the test thereby escaping the dealings—of which it is to our detriment.
- For others, it’s a refusal to submit to the dealings because of obvious pride and ego
And lots more.
But, what is this “test” really about?
The truth is for you to pass an exam, you need to know what the exam is based on. This will enable you to prepare properly.
It is no different when it comes to spiritual tests. This test I speak of is the test of Love; it’s the test of your love for God.
This is a test of how much you love God, and how much you can lay your life down for His cause. There are four levels to this test; passion, commitment, pleasure, and sacrifice.
1. Passion
Passion means a strong desire for someone or something. The proof of passion is PURSUIT.
The psalmist in Psalm 63:1 portrays this. “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”
How passionate are you toward God?
This simply means how driven and determined are you in your pursuit of His Majesty.
