Spiritual Relevance – The Father’s Business

Text: Revelation 3:15-16AMP

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless) and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust].”

Relevance simply means “important to the matter at hand.” Therefore, Spiritual Relevance simply means how important are you to the advancement of the kingdom of God.

Our relevance to the business of our Father is of great importance and God wants all His children to come into this understanding of sonship.

God is calling us to a place of maturity where we are no longer all about what goes into our mouth and fills our belly like a little child who doesn’t understand responsibility but to a place of sonship where we are concerned about his business.

What is the Father’s Business or Kingdom Business? (2 Corinthians 5:11-21)

The Father is in the business of reconciliation, restoration, and salvation. In essence, Bringing back those that are lost into the folds of the Father’s tender mercy and love.

Who are the lost sheep?

(Ephesians 2:2)

The lost sheep are those that are still living according to the standard and ways of this world (under the power of sin). Those that do not believe in the Love of the Father (God) and the perfect work of freedom from sin through Christ (the shedding of his blood on the cross).

Conclusion

Everything we do must be channeled towards bringing back the lost sheep into the folds of the Father.

It could be by the teaching of the word for the renewal of minds, by being a kingdom financier, giving to the poor, showing hospitality, expressing godly values in love, etc. All we do must add value and bring about an expansion in the Father’s business.

The Mandate

Matthew 28:19-20AMP

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”
