Text: “Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor. So I threw you to the ground and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings. You defiled your sanctuaries with your many sins and your dishonest trade. So I brought fire out from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching.” (Ezekiel 28:17 – 18NLT)

If you read the above text (Ezekiel 28) from verses 11 to 19, you will see that prophet Ezekiel was explaining what lead to the fall of Lucifer who was once ordained and anointed as one of the mighty angelic guardians.

He had access to the holy mountain of God (Inner circle) and walked among the stones of fire (Ezekiel 28:14 NLT).

But something happened to the once finest and all beautifully crafted being clothed in all precious stones that are still happening till date.

He allowed all the splendor (fame, rich, recognition, respect, attention, glory) and beauty he had to overshadow him that he began to rebel against Him (God) that created him and clothed him with all the splendor and beauty he claimed to be his.

But, little did he know that no matter how much he thinks highly of himself and wanted to walk outside the ordained assignment he was given by his creator (God) he would only bring destruction upon himself.

Pride and love for the mundane things (fame, rich, recognition, respect, attention, glory) of this world will only cut us off from God’s glory and beauty for the lives that have been given to us in Christ.

For this reason, the bible makes us understand that there is a need for us to guide our hearts intensely because if we are not careful, we could become like Lucifer who began to think highly of himself and thought he had it all and could become more than God has predestined him to be.
