Text: Mark 6:41-44

  1. “Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42. They all ate and were satisfied, 43. and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44 The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.”

Jesus the great miracle worker in history did his wonders again by multiplying bread and fish which were only a young lad’s lunch and fed over 5000 men, women, and children not numbered. Every one of them eat and was satisfied and there were leftovers from 12 baskets that were collected. What an awesome miracle that was.

From the reading, we could see that Jesus simply gave thanks for the little provision and instructed his disciples to share it and as they share the meal, it just would not finish, what a mysterious spiritual technology for multiplication.

Soon enough, the people enjoined him to be their king, then Jesus discerned their intention. They wanted free bread and fish all the days of their lives, they were concerned about their belly and not about the King. If Judas was able to produce the same result for them, then their choice wouldn’t have been Jesus.

Jesus must have surprised you with mind-blowing miracles before, congratulations! But may I tell you the truth? If that is your motive for keeping Jesus close, you will never see Him enthroned in your life. Until you love him much more than miracles, more than healings, more than ministry, more than your comfort, you will never experience his Kingdom.

Enough of selfishness in dealing with God, he wants who can give up himself for him, that even though no provision of loaves and fishes, you will stubbornly cleave to him. Let money and riches and cars and houses and jobs and businesses stay outside for Jesus to come in. Then Jesus sees your heart and he comes in honorably and sits as king directing the affairs of your life and you will be surprised as to the heights of success you will attain just because you love him more than his gifts and blessings. Repent today!
