Text: Romans 12:2
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
There are three worlds spoken of in the scripture above
- The World of creation (Ps 24:1-2): Here we see God as the creator and sustainer of this world.
- The World of Humanity (Jn.3:16): Here we see that God’s unreserved love for the world of humanity is incredibly expressed in his son coming to die on the cross for their redemption.
- The World system (Rom.12:2). The Greek word for ‘world’ in Rom.12:2 is ‘aion’ which means the thinking pattern of a space of time (an age).
Every age is characterized by systems and structures that project their thoughts and their actions unless rejected. The system operating in the Garden of Eden was characterized by glory and beauty because it was governed by the law of the Spirit of life.
However, when Adam rebelled against that system, the Spirit of Life (justice and righteousness) gradually withdrew from the earth (Gen 6:1-2).
This led to the emergence of another system which is characterized by the misery of injustice and wickedness that is administered by Satan through the law of sin and death – Rom.8:2. This transition affected all of creation because only by righteousness and justice can there be a harmonious coexistence.
Creation gropes up till now awaiting the rising of the sons of God because we are the light of the World. The systemic problems of our world today can only be fixed by the sons of light, but only when they rise and shine. Isaiah 60:1-2 says “Arise, shine; for thy light is come and the glory of the LORD risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
Our assignment is to bring the Glory of God again in every arena void of righteousness and justice – this is the WILL of God (Matt.6:10).
Conclusion: The government of God’s reign on earth is resting on our shoulders, He has given us the scepter of Authority (Holy Spirit) and the Power of Attorney (The name of Jesus). Let’s not conform to the world system but let’s transform it by renewing our minds through the WORD OF GOD.
