Text: Psalm 39:4-8, Ecclesiastes 3:1, Ephesians 5:15-17 “Time is of the essence”, I’m sure you have heard that expression before. It just means that time matters. It is the inevitable progression into the future with the passing of present events into the past.

Do you realize that this is the only today you’ll ever have? You can’t live in yesterday and you can’t live in tomorrow. You can only live now. With that in mind, don’t waste your time. You only have so much of it. It may seem like you will live forever on earth, but you won’t; so why waste time on unimportant things or destructive things like anger and bitterness?

Don’t waste time doing unimportant things. Sure, have fun, relax, etc., but don’t just sit around. Stop wasting your life on temporal things, instead place your focus on the lord.
God has wonderful things for you to accomplish and experience, and you won’t discover them by sitting in front of the television all day. God has something better for you.

The main enemies of your time are procrastination and distraction.

Procrastination is driven by a variety of thoughts and habits but fundamentally, we avoid tasks or put them off because we do not believe we’ll enjoy doing them and want to avoid making ourselves unhappy, or we fear that we won’t do them well.

Distraction: We can become easily distracted by so many things – television, what is going on in other people’s lives, what is going on in the world, internet surfing, newspapers, magazines, worrying about what might or might not happen, social media, spending much time on the phone, spending a lot of time looking forward to events.

Be very careful how you live. Do not live like those who are not wise, but live wisely. As Christians, the devil will use various methods to make sure you waste time and don’t fulfill your purpose. Hence, you must ensure to avoid those distractions and keep your focus on the lord.

CONCLUSION
“ Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered – how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best each of us is but a breath”.

As you keep growing and tending towards old age. Your youth is the time for you to work, learn and fulfill your destiny. Time won’t wait for you, because when you are old you will be too weak to do anything.

Don’t waste time!
