Text: DEUTERONOMY 8:17-20, EXODUS 20:3

God takes pride in the progress people have made on earth. He sees the beautiful skyscrapers, the highways, and the bridges. He sees the medical discoveries that bring healing to people who suffer. He sees the amazing advancements in the fields of technology and communication.

He also sees the proud hearts of people. They forget that none of these achievements would have been possible had He not created the natural resources of the world. None of this could have been done without His gifts of human intelligence and reason.

People make gods out of money or their abilities, forgetting to turn to the one who made the earth what it is.

What does that make them?

(Deuteronomy 8:17 – 20) If you start thinking to yourselves, “ I did all this. And all by myself. I’m rich. It’s all mine!” well, think again. Remember that God, your God, gave you the strength to produce wealth to confirm the covenant that he promised to your ancestors – as it is today. If you forget God, your God, and start taking up with other gods, serving and worshipping them, I’m on record right now as giving you a firm warning: that will be the end of you; I mean it -destruction. You’ll go to your doom – the same as the nations God is destroying before you; doom because you wouldn’t obey the voice of God, your God.”

The Bible also says, when we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Those certificates mean nothing if it wasn’t for God, why don’t you lay them down and bless Him for them?

Those achievements couldn’t have been possible if he didn’t give you the wisdom to do it, your body and life wouldn’t be this peaceful or alive if God didn’t give you the breath of life and His peace which transcends all understanding.

So, why not lay everything you have as a thanksgiving to Him, it wasn’t by your power or strength.

God loves to worship and can’t let other things have His glory. That is one of the keys to His heart; don’t ever get tired of giving him your worship. Lay your crowns and worship Him.

Selah.
