Text: Genesis 18:16-33, Genesis 19:1-17, Genesis 14:12-16.

There are lots of lessons to be learned from the story or rather the relationship between Abraham and God, likewise that of Abraham and Lot.

”Who you know and who knows you on this earth matters.”
Because of the relationship Lot had with Abraham, Lot and his family were saved from being destroyed (Genesis 14:12-16) like every other person in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Genesis 19:16 (AMP) makes us understand that ”Lot hesitated and lingered. The men (angels sent to destroy Sodom) took hold of his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters because the Lord was merciful to him [for Abraham’s sake], and they brought him out, and left him outside the city [with his family]”.

Any relationship is called a relationship when there is a mutual awareness of a connection or the togetherness of two or more persons. So, it is not just about who you know but the question is, do they also know you? In essence, one can’t say he/she has a connection or affair with someone and the other person(s) isn’t aware of that connection or feels the same way.

Every connection you feel toward someone needs to be mutual before it can be called a relationship so that the benefit (grace) that comes with the relationship can be enjoyed.

Our physical or spiritual relationships sure determine how far we can go in this life and beyond. Believe it or not, who you know and who knows in terms of their status in physical affairs (influence among men) and spiritual status (closeness with God) would determine if you will live a long and prosperous life.
